BRIDES NEED TO KNOW PAGE , THE FAQS
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
How many people can you do on a wedding morning?
A Freelance wedding service is a minimum of 4 people. However if there is less than 4 I can offer the wedding service at my home studio in Dewsbury West Yorkshire.
At the venue it is totally down to timings and when you need to be ready. If for example you get married at 1pm, then I would aim to have everyone completed by 12pm. This gives you all time to get dressed speak to the registrar before hand and make sure you aren't all rushing around last minute. I allocate 1 hour for the bride and 45 minutes per person and my earliest start time is 6am so for the example above that would mean, I could do 7 people. (for health and safety reason each person must be able to get onto my stool /chair provided. If this isn't possible I WILL NOT be able to do there hair. I am based in Dewsbury , West Yorkshire so travel expenses do apply and travel expenses are charged at an hourly rate. So, if it's a 4 hour round trip then I will need to charge for 4 hours of travel in addition to styling services. If your venue is more then 3 hours away from Dewsbury West Yorkshire I will not be able to travel the same day. I need to stay at the location the evening before for an additional expense.
Do I need a hair trial before the day?
YES PLEASE. Everyones hair is so different. Pictures you find online of models on a photo shoot may be totally different hairtype to yours and they also may have lots of extentions in and been styled for 4 hours, so a trial will give you an idea of time, whether you need to buy clip in extentions( I reccommend this more then bonded extentions as the hair has a more flawless finish without the bonds being in the way) and of coarse whether it suits you and your hair type. We can also discuss hair accessories if you have not bought any, to go with your style. I recommend you have your veil, if you would like one, for the trial as this effects what style we go with. (also reccomend veils on smaller combs or on slides or if it's a style the veil goes underneath the hair it is put on loops rather this a comb as this the can be put in with grips instead and gives you more options with choosing a style.)
Do my bridesmaids need a trial?
Not always. Lots of bridesmaids go with the flow for the bride's sake on the day and usually bridesmaids have a similar look so I adapt each style so everyone is comfortable and happy. However, if you have a bridesmaid who is very particular, nervous or just wants to see the finished look in advance, by all means they can book an appointment. If a bridesmaid would like her hair trail done at the same time as yours, then there will be a separate charge for her trial. A deposit must be paid for her hair trail also.
I'm unsure what look to go for?
I recommend looking at pictures of what you like and what you do not like .This gives me a clearer insight to what you want. Social media and pictures are great for me to see what you have in mind. But not every style can be adapted to all hair types. So during the trial we can talk about you. To find out what theme suits your personality, your hair and your dress.
Let the accessory, accessorise. Please be aware if you already have the accessory you have your heart set on for the day and it's a large statement piece that the style will be worked around that piece and will limit your options on which style. I recommend having your trial and finding the right accessory after or having a smaller piece that can be adapted and give you more options.
When should I book my hair trial?
Hair trials should be booked at least 6 weeks before your wedding. You want your hair to be similar to to how it will be on your wedding day that includes colour and length. If your growing it or working towards a colour please be aware it being too close will give you less time to find the right accessory or if you need to buy hair extentions for volume. Colour of you hair is a big factor in your chosen style as textured colours really complements a hair style so if your thinking of having them highlights get them done a few times before the wedding so u know what the colour will look like on the trial and on the day. Hair trials are mid week appointments only and done at my studio in Dewsbury West Yorkshire. Check out my studio on this site or on my instagram page @luskiwhairdressing.
When booking you wedding hair in please be aware of trial dates, that you can do midweek appointment. Please be aware these appointments will get booked up quick, so should be thought of as soon as possible. Even if you are not wanting the trial till 6 weeks before, it should be prebooked to secure your date as early as you can.
How does the hair trial work? What should I have with me?
On the day of your trial bring, any accessories you may have purchased, including your veil if you have one. If you haven't yet bought anything don't worry, I can always advise you on what would be the best fit after creating your hairstyle. Your appointment is 2 hours and that gives us plenty of time to try a few things if needed. A £20 deposit is to be paid by BACS to reserve the appointment. The rest can be paid on cash on the day. This is non refundable/non transferable. If you decide you only want to try one style and are satisfied and I am only with you an hour, I do not refund you for the hour as I cant do another person's hair after as I've allocated the time. If you still feel you need more time after the 2 hours ,and you want try out other options then you will need to book another trial which will cost the same price but you will get me for 2 hours again. Bring pictures of your dress and styles that you like for inspiration so I can get a feel for what you like.
Please wash & blow-dry your hair the night before so that it's clean and dry for your trial. If you are have a tight curl and want a smoother style, please be aware, on your trial if I need to blow dry it smooth, this can take time away from you having an extra trial style, so if you are wanting it smoother, try to do this the night before so it doesn't eat into our time together. We want the hair to be similar to the wedding day so no very greasy hair please.
Please wear something white/cream, preferably something you can pull off your shoulders. This is not only great for photographs, but you need to feel what it will look like on the day. If your wedding dress is strapless then wearing a bright red shirt high neck will look different against the hair and neckline.
Once you're happy with the finished result then I'll take lots of photographs, not only for me to remember what we did but also for my social media. I would not share these till after your wedding of coarse.
Who will remove my veil on the day if I don't want to keep it in?
I will show a member of the bridal party on how to remove the veil with as little disruption as possible should you want to take it out after the ceremony.
How much is the deposit for the wedding day?
I require a £70 non refundable, non transferrable deposit to secure your booking alongside a completed booking form. Until i receive both of these the date will remain open. If I have sent you a booking form and you haven't completed it yet in the meantime someone else comes along a pays a deposit the date will be given away. Under no circumstances do I hold a date. First come first served.
If you cancel the date you WILL NOT be given a refund of that deposit. If you change the date a new deposit will be required as I may have turned other brides away.
What if there is only a sofa in the venue to sit on and no chairs. Where will I get my hair done?
Do not worry I have my own chair that all clients must sit on as I cant do my best work using lower smaller chairs or sofas. For health and safety reasons everyone must be able to get on to my stool I provide. Its slightly higher as I am tall but its comfy when you are on it.
I will also be bringing an extention cord just incase these older buildings have sockets in the most random places.
Will I need hairspray to top up my style on the day?
No need for extra products. I use all professional sprays creams and powders needed to suit each hair type and style.
My bridesmaids / guest/flower girls only want a few curls/have short hair, is it the same price?
I don't offer discounts for anyone, sorry!
I will need to know the exact numbers of the wedding party having there hair done in advise for timings. If on the day someone is not there or decides they do not want it doing there will be no refunds issued as I would of allocated the time for them already.
Bridesmaids or wedding guests, are the same price regardless of the style they have. This is because I book out a slot per person. It's down to you guys to decide wether you would like it doing on the day, I won't be offended if you deem it not worth it.
Flower girls prices are for 8 years and under. Anyone older than that will be charged full adult price. Please appreciate that some girls have more hair than adults and can take me much longer.
I don't do flower girls under 3. As it is unsafe on a highchair for me to do there hair and they usually have pulled out there style and loosened it by playing before the ceremony. I recommend a friend or family member do something pretty for them just before you leave for the ceremony.
